    • What it is: A smartphone system permission that allows our Urgent (Level 1) severe weather warnings to audibly sound off even if your phone's physical switch is flipped to mute or set to native "Do Not Disturb".

    • Why use it: If an active, dangerous storm kicks up at 3 AM, your phone's native operating system will block standard apps from making noise. Enabling this ensures life-saving alarms still wake you up.

    • How to do it: Open the Pushover app, tap Settings, look for Notification Options, and toggle ON "Critical Alerts for High Priority" (iOS) or grant Pushover permission to override system DND under your Android app settings.

    • What it is: An automated timer inside Pushover that silences routine, everyday weather updates (Level 0) while you sleep, without needing to turn on your entire phone's "Do Not Disturb" mode.

    • Why use it: If you want to ensure early morning weather reports don't buzz your nightstand, but you still need your physical phone awake for midnight emergency calls from family.

    • How to do it: Log into your personal dashboard at Pushover.net, locate the Quiet Hours section on the main screen, set your sleep schedule, and hit save. (Note: Urgent Level 1 warnings automatically bypass this filter).

    • What it is: A temporary manual pause button built directly into the app that completely mutes your weather alerts for a set number of minutes, hours, or days.

    • Why use it: If you are heading into an important business meeting, a movie, or a church service and want to guarantee your phone stays silent, without changing your smartphone's master volume or global system settings.

    • How to do it: Open the Pushover app on your mobile device, tap the Quick DND (moon/pause icon) at the top of the screen, and select your duration. The app will automatically unmute itself the second the timer expires.
